The Lunar New Year celebrated in Asian Communities all over the World began February 17th.
As we enter the new Solar Year the rise in kinetic energy is palpable. Dig in to your stirrups and hold on to the reigns. The key to a successful year is to align with personal and ambient energies, while exerting enough control to be moving in your desired directions.
This Fire Horse year highlights and emphasizes, the energy of Fire,
(Fire Heaven Stem sitting over Fire fixed element of Horse). Some may experience this surge more than others. It can take the form of a heart centered beneficial flow that serves the greater good; or it can become a destructive force that creates conflict and lasting harm and perhaps the explosive conflicts of war.
The key to the most positive and productive experience, is to be aware when judgment appears and substitute discernment. Of utmost importance is to increase efforts of selfcare to insure emotional, physical and spiritual well-being, and to maintain the awareness that we are of one human species, with more similarities than differences.
It is essential to pace activities so as not to become overwhelmed or depleted. The saying “Slow is smooth, smooth is fast” applies here. Careful consideration and alignment of personal or group outlay of energy will yield the better result.
THE FOUR PILLARS IN THE YEAR OF THE FIRE HORSE
Fire is both the Heaven stem, and the fixed element carried by the Horse. Fire is the element most associated with “Heart Energy”. The powerful messaging of the Fire Horse suggests that the search for truth be focused inward. Unlike the advice given by the “X-files”, the truth is not out there; the truth is inside where the “Heart Energy” resides. Look inside! There you can find your personal truth as well as truths that are aligned with all there is.
Fire energy can bring clarity. Looking inward you may be able to better experience truths based on higher wisdom. An important and universal truth is that people have far more that brings them together than what divides them. Concentrate on that truth with sustained clarity and the real problems facing our world are on their way to being resolved.
The two Tigers in the Month and Hour Pillars are both a support and a challenge for the Horse. The Tiger has a unique relationship with the horse by being both a member of the Horse’s Trinity Group and by being one of its Empty Branches.
The benefits include unlimited support, especially pertaining to qualities the Horse has deficits in. The challenges are in learning the lessons that the Tiger Empty Branch offers; the need for more patience; an avoidance of unnecessary aggression as well as an avoidance of excessively reactive behavior. Ignoring these lessons will have its cost.
Tigers are also well known for their visionary abilities. They are able to foresee future conditions and able to devise effective solutions in accordance. Two tigers magnify the influence of the Tiger.
The location of the two tigers is of importance. The presence of the Tiger Empty Branch in the Month Pillar, indicates possible conflicts with parental relationship. The Tiger Empty Branch in the hour Pillar can indicate conflicts with offspring as well as personal conflicts with one’s innermost self.
The Rooster in the Day Pillar can indicate a tendency to rush to judgment. This tendency can lead to a mistrust of other’s motivations and ultimately, to unnecessary conflicts. This can be observed in personal situations as well as on the world stage. The Rooster’s location can also indicate a rushing to judgment and mistrust in spousal relationships.
Although judgment developed within the human psyche as a protective/defensive strategy, it can be a very destructive force that can sometimes lead to confirmation bias. A perspective that favors one’s existing, accumulated beliefs, while dismissing evidence that contradicts them. It can presume an outcome based on one’s own prejudices and fears. Discernment is a better tactic that can lead to better results.
Discernment is a heart centered approach to personal perspective and is motivated by higher wisdom. In a way it is a more enlightened version of the same protective mechanisms that cause “a rush to judgment”. Unlike the “rush to judgment”, which often increases existing difficulties; discernment makes it possible to determine and choose the path that serves one’s personal and greater good; resulting in a more positive resolution.
THE FIVE ELEMENTS IN THE YEAR OF THE FIRE HORSE
The Element Balance:
Fire 44% - Resource – Represents support received from people, situations and the universe. Resource is abundant in this chart. To increase the possibility of success, engage in activities that are well supported, especially in business matters, electronic technology and electronic communication. Ask for support when engaging in any challenging activity.
Wood 22% - Power- Power can manifest as Aggressive Power (power over) or Proper Power (power from within and from higher self). In this chart there is substantial amount of the power element. Wood is Yang Wood-Proper power. We are guided to take the high road in matters of power. Focusing on personal power in the most creative ways can enhance personal and global conditions. Take a chance and initiate new creative ways to enhance your personal power.
Metal 20% - Expression – Represents our creativity and how we put ourselves out in the world. Metal expression is about the creative aspects of our inner being. Self-examination and introspection are of utmost importance to access our most creative nature. Avoid the rigidity that can occur under the influence of Metal. Especially avoid patterns that get trapped in the mind.
Earth 14% - Day Element- The defining element in the chart. Earth is in a normal range and although not substantial enough to bring a lot of stability, it does offer some stability in Earth related areas and can mitigate some of the adverse effects of the excessively fast paced, rushing energy of the year.
Water 0% Wealth – Represents rewards in life. Rewards for good deeds towards others, for the benefit of the greater good and especially for engaging in needed self-care. Water Element is lacking from this chart. This indicates that there may be some difficulty in reaping deserved rewards. Certain financial goals may be difficult to achieve. Use this time for development and creation of desired future events. Make the best use of time by seeding, investing and applying large amounts of self-appreciation. Be persistent and patient in your quests and the time for reaping what you’ve sown may just be around the corner.

Fire is the Element most closely associated with technology. Technology can be both challenging and beneficial, depending on how it is deployed. Making proper constructive use of advancements in technology is highly encouraged this year.
Technology - The Double-Edged Sword
Technology, and especially, cyber communications and commerce, are ruled by Fire Element. We can expect a massive increase in activity in these areas during this Fire Horse time. Used ethically, technology offers many benefits that can be enjoyed by all. In the wrong hands, however, technology can become a treacherous tool, designed to benefit the billionaire class, that controls it.
We live in an age of cyber manipulation. It’s becoming increasingly easier for cyber entities to collect private information and record patterns of behavior through carefully engineered algorithms. With added speed that AI provides, we are being manipulated by every cyber entity we interact with at a faster rate. This includes websites we visit, social media, membership groups and online platforms we make purchases on. Even the simple act of scanning a QR code with a phone camera can provide access to others, to much personal information.
Data and behavior pattern collection is inevitable unless you choose to remove yourself from the grid and ceases all cyber and electronic interactions. The recommendation this Fire Horse Year is to avail yourself of the benefits and conveniences that technology offers, but to do it mindfully, judiciously and with caution. Verify every cyber entity that you interact with. Avoid click traps that simply collect your data. If a service or product is offered in exchange for personal information be sure that what you are getting in exchange is aligned with your values and greater purpose. Focus on the intention that your interactions lead to your desired result and are in service of the greater good.
