The Rose and the Sacred Geometry of Love

What is it about the Rose? She has drawn Lovers, Poets and Mystics through the eons to wax lyrical about her. The Rose speaks to the great Mystery of Love and Life… Of beauty, healing and opening the heart. Often given as a gift of love, the Rose holds within her a magic code.

The Rose was said to be a gift from the planet Venus, arriving on Earth with the first Venusian star seeds to make their way here. The oldest fossilised remains of the Rose that have been found are over 30 million years old! Those original Roses were what we would now recognise as a Dog Rose in our hedgerows, quite simple in form with just 5 petals. We can also see that pattern in Hawthorn, Apple and Blackberries, they are all part of the same family Rosaceae.

The Rose opens the 5 sepals around her bud in a very specific pattern, not all at once or consecutively but in the same way that you would draw a five-pointed star. So, her core Sacred Geometry is a pentagram… and as she opens her bud, so the Rose bloom then explodes into the many beautiful forms and colours we are so familiar with.

Embedded within the geometry of the pentagram is a ratio called the Golden Mean. A ratio of 1:1.61803 known as the beauty proportion. This is also found throughout the human body and the growth proportion of nature. Artists and Architects have incorporated the Golden Mean in many of our most famous Artworks and Buildings exactly because it elicits a particular recognised experience and feeling within the body… it touches the heart. More about that to come.

We return to the subject of Venus. Planet Venus in the heavens creates a beautiful Rosabella, a 5 petalled Rose in her journey with the Earth around the Sun every 8 years. In that dance she takes 1.61803 years to create each petal! Interesting then that both the Rose and Venus are seen as significators of Love and Beauty.

Around 2006/7 I had the opportunity to do some study work in the South of France with Dan Winter, who is well known for his work with Heart Coherence and Sacred Geometry. He had a computer programme that he had created called The Bliss Tuner. I had the opportunity to try it and after being attached from my wrists was invited through meditation to move into my heart and find an inner stillness point to entrain my field to 1:1.61803… to enter into the ‘bliss zone’. Dan said that in his experience the heart in love resonated to Golden Mean and that if we could hold that frequency 24/7 we would remain vibrant, clear, radiant fields of Love

So, there is a connection between The Rose, Venus and Love

Which reminded me. I was a couture wedding dress designer through the 80’s and 90’s … with shops and a studio creating magic with silk and antique French textiles. I cannot tell you how many hundreds of dresses and head dresses I made adorned with my handmade Roses. The women who came to me knew deep within that there was something that connected the Feminine, Love and the Rose.

The Rose then took me on another journey deep into the Healing Arts as a vessel for Her wisdom in creating the Rose Oracle for the Heart and the Rose Dragon set. She really has woven her way right through my life, my creativity and my healing work with clients, their Homes and the Earth ultimately through the beautiful Rosy Mandalas of Love.

Many of you may have followed and been inspired by the Ven. monks on the Walk for Peace as they walked from Ft Worth to Washington DC. Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara who visioned and led the walk was often seen with a Rose… most memorably at Washington Cathedral and in the final walk to the Lincoln Memorial.

So, the Rose, Venus and the Heart in Love are calling us home. To find Peace within.
