Spring is a time of transition from the cold dark winter season into hope, new beginnings, and life. It is a fun time to reset and redecorate our home. With Conscious Design principles, we can support this energetic shift as well as aligning with our visions and goals for the upcoming year.
One of the most important concepts stem from the 5 element system called the 9 Star Ki.
The spring is a time called wood element and it has upward growth and momentum, like a young plant sprouting upwards towards the sky. We must remember that the plant also has roots anchored into the earth. The grounded and stable earth gives the plant it’s nourishment and support to grow. In our conscious home design, we want to highlight the spring and also show the stability of earth. The earth element can be represented by earth toned carpets, brown/beige flooring, and darker tones towards the lower half of the room. Even a table cloth can bring grounding to the dining table.
Yes, we can follow the trends and the feng shui recommendations for paint and design, read the latest magazine articles. Shift and transition is best when we truly understand the why and the purpose of what we are creating.
Foremost I would love for you to take down all the current artwork and allow the walls to breathe and refresh. Everything at eye level represents “present time”. What do you desire to bring into your life. What will inspire you and give you hope, focus, and magnetize results?
What is your life like at this time? Are you busy working and on the road a lot? Do you work from home virtually, so a lot of time is withing your home walls? Do you live alone or with a busy family? All of this determines your design, all is not a simple “one fits all”. I want you to begin to really embrace who you are and what energy is needed for balance.
With that in mind, I am making some great suggestions for Conscious Design for this Spring(and it’s never too late to create a fresh start!)
First of all, get everything cleaned in the house, carpets, windows, venting, etc. Freshen up your space. Remove all excess – I know, this is not the fun part. It is vital to moving ahead.
Lets look over some inspiring design ideas:
Fresh plants and flowers are the spring recipe. Remember to bring in some grounded colors and materials to anchor the energy. Root into the earth.
These terra cotta planters are ideal.
Bamboo is a beautiful and lucky plant to add to your décor. Often grounded with stones, it is strong, yet flexible.
Bring in artwork that signifies Hope and Courage such as this soaring Eagle.
Lots of fresh green and flowers to inspire life and growth. Do not overload yourself with too many plants. This can drain your energy. Balance is the key.
This is a year 2024 that defines lineage, ancestry and family. Represent and honor this with artwork of family and/or items that show evolution: small-medium-large.
2024 is the year where we have “fire” in the center of the home for balance.
Every year there is an opportunity to bring the fire element of hope and life into our spaces.
Open up the windows and add soft light flowing drapes and curtains. Clean those windows as they represent the “eyes” and clarity. Fix any cracks right away.
Use natural materials whenever possible. The wood element can be found in weaves, wicker, wood. For grounding energy – look at stone, square shapes, terra cotta, clay.
Use the color pink and soft green for softening and healing the heart. Remember balance – green is very active, so use your green sparingly with intention. A great way to bring in pink is with rose quartz.
The geometry of rectangles, upward motion, color of green and vertical connects to the wood template of 2024. Remember the importance of balance and add some “gravity into your home and office design with some earth energy for grounding in the lower 1/3 quadrant of the space. Such as some square shapes, colors of beige & brown, a couch.
Add light scent – such as a natural lavender in the home. Cleanse and bless the space and expand into new beginnings.
Embrace the special time of new beginnings
