As a successful interior designer, Robin Lennon created beautiful rooms.
She soon realized however, that pleasing the eye wasn't enough when changing a
person's home. She felt these beautiful rooms reflected her own tastes and whims
rather than her clients dreams. Robin
approaches designing a home in a unique manner. "It is important" she
says, "to be in harmony with yourself and your surroundings and to pay attention
to when our environment is no longer a good foundation and support of our hopes
and dreams for the future." She relates clutter to putting your past in front
of your future. Instead of designing your home for other people's approval, one
must start by looking within. What are your hopes? What are your dreams for the
future? What is your true heart's desire? These must be reflected in the home
to really nurture the occupants. Robin encourages her clients to add their creative
input to the designs. Creativity exists within everyone. It is the kind of creativity
that comes unabashedly in childhood when the only thing to contain it is a smock.
It is only later that we developed the 'color inside the lines' mentality that
dominated and crushed this free spirit. Robin
takes this same approach when designing her clothing line. Robin's unique sense
of style and eye for color is the starting point. Her client's personality is
then thrown into the mix. The result is an article of clothing that fully reflects
the very essence of the person it was created for. The
lesson we learn here, is that whether you're designing a beautiful bedroom, an
outdoor retreat, or a simple scarf, you must look inside and find the spirit in
order to nourish the heart. Inner
