Stone Power presents:
SPRING: A TIME TO SOW, A TIME TO REJOICE
By Deana Schimmenti

Ah, spring is finally here! It is a time of awakening and a time for re-birth. It is a time for joy and resurrection.
Spring is the time when Demeter, Goddess of Agriculture, welcomes her daughter Persephone home, and
awakens the Earth and its bounty. I am reminded of their story as I gaze out my windows and observe the new
buds on the trees. The snows have melted away and suddenly I see the green blades of grass and the delicate blooms of the daffodils. Yes, spring is definitely here and so we turn to the tasks at hand: spring cleaning, taxes,
and gardening.

Most of us take this time to clean out our closets and basements, wash windows, and change curtains. It is also a time to do a little space clearing and clean the air as well. A great tool for this endeavor is Obsidian. Obsidian will attract negative energy and store it until you empty its coffers. By simply placing this stone in an area or room you wish to clear, this stone will soon start to collect all the negativity surrounding it.

Because of this, it is never a good idea to wear Obsidian or carry it with you. In fact, it should be placed in an area of the room where you will not be sitting lest you get caught in the line of fire. Once it has absorbed its fill
of negative energy, it should be emptied or cleansed well. This can be done with a salt bath or, as the ancients did, by burying it in the Earth. About a week should do it.

Now that the house is clean, we can focus our attention on the next problem - taxes. If you used your lucky stones wisely and applied your stones to attract wealth and prosperity properly, you might be paying the tax collector this month. Not to worry though, those eye stones we talked about last month will replace money lost. The stone to have with you when filling out those pesky tax forms is Sardonyx.

This stone will help you to tie up any loose ends, effectively closing the gaps and the past year's financial matters.

Okay, time to go outside and enjoy the warmer weather. While you're there, you might as well get the garden ready. There are many, many gardener's stones. One such stone is Moss Agate. An inexpensive stone, Moss Agate can be planted alongside the bulbs in your flower bed or in your vegetable garden to ensure a bountiful harvest.

Early civilizations used Indian Agates to protect their harvest from drought, flooding, and insect infestations. Dendritic or Tree Agates were considered by ancient Greeks to be
the stone of abundance and were buried in the field with seedlings to bring forth an abundant harvest.

This stone was also revered by Native Americans who believed it would connect them with the power of the trees as its branches are clearly visible in the stone.

Yes, spring is here. Persephone has come home at last. Let us all go out and celebrate.
