2008 - Year of Water
Our journey through time is a journey of the heart. At times we are more actively open to the world, at times turned deeply inward to the voice within us.

This is the very shift in influence we experience on a global scale with the beginning of the Lunar Year on February 4, 2008. As the end of one cycle of
energy transforms into the next, we move dramatically from the steady receptivity of Earth, to the fluid, deeply inward focus of Water. At this lowest of energy levels, a profound intuitive connection flows and all activity takes place beneath the surface. We turn our gaze inward and float in the dream of Water, creating the plan for our destiny, but not yet rising to the occasion.

Water, the First House, marks the beginning of a new cycle of nine transformations. Here, there is a longing for change initiated from deep within and the potential for great mastery. There is also vulnerability to danger from without and a strong protective urge comes into play.

Water is the great mediator, an independent force whose influence is objective and fluid, gradually softening the edges of dispute. Water follows the path of least resistance, staying true to its nature in transformation, yet changes all it touches. In Water we dream the dream of our life journey.

Gladly, this year brings a tendency toward mediation, especially where none was possible before. Success in delicate negotiations will require listening intuitively, beyond words, and planning thoughtful action that is more sideways than direct.

Continuing to expend great energy in war will meet with more and more difficulty. Those who are on the path of aggression will find their efforts dissolving. There is potential danger and instability in southerly regions, but most likely it will be inconsistent and not easily sustained. Activity in mid-regions needs a strong focus and leadership to keep things moving forward and let new ideas penetrate through.

Our need to be connected and moving forward together is a driving force in this year of Water. Our path to uniting as a global community can gain momentum this year, especially in the choice of leadership of the European Union as well as in our vote for President of the United States. The Green movement can achieve growth and may experience a revolutionary step forward in the north.

Established forces will hold fast in self-protective efforts, but the flow of change is inevitable. By defending an untenable position even as its cycle has come to an end, we muddy the clear waters of independence and reason. This is the year to heed our inner voice.

We will look to objective leadership, whose defined direction for the future reaches out to include all, whose flexibility is well considered and whose quiet voice of reason will be heard. However, the opportunity for miscommunication is strong and will ultimately be a deciding factor in the outcome.

Financial matters continue to be subdued in 2008, with slight gains possible in the last quarter. Individually, your finances will be influenced more profoundly by your own Star nature and the energetic House where you reside this year, rather than by the global influence of Water.
